In April 2015, CP7 researcher Teun Baar visited the Fraunhofer-Institute Darmstadt as part of his secondment. During the visit, a psychophysical experiment was conducted to assess the influence of texture on the perception of gloss and visa versa, using printed samples. The aim of the research was to acquire an improved understanding of the perception of these two aspects for 3D printed samples of which the gloss level was controlled.
Papers accepted at CVCS 2015
We are happy to announce that 2 papers submitted at CVCS 2015 by research fellows ‘Paula Žitinski Elías’ and ‘Ludovic Coppel’ as part or their research activities in the CP7 project has been accepted. Congratulations to the researchers. For further details please click here.
Irina Ciortan’s visit to Océ Paris and C2RMF
CP7 researchers Teun Baar and Melissa Olen presented their research papers at the AIC2015 conference recently held in Tokyo, Japan. In total 3 papers were presented from the project. For more details please click here.
CP7 researcher Radovan Slavuj presented his PhD research work at Forum Farge 2015 conference in Olso, Norway on April 17th, 2015. Radovan presented his research carried out till now on Spectral Modelling for multi-channel printers discussing about the work done till now and how it can be applied in everyday scenarios.
Forum Farge is a Norwegian association of people working with Colour. The main aim of this association is to stimulate Colour research on all aspects of colour, to disseminate research-based knowledge about colour, and to facilitate the application of this knowledge to solve colour-related issues in art, design, architecture, science and technology at national level.
Paula Žitinski Elías’s visit to Gjøvik
CP7 researcher Paula Žitinski Elías from LiU, Sweden had a short secondment visit to Gjøvik University College in March 2015. During this visit Paula closely worked with Radovan Slavuj and Luddovic Coppel from CP7.0, and had meetings with several other members of the Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory at GUC. Paula is currently working with colour models for multi-channel printing and image quality assessment.
We are happy to inform that the abstract submitted by CP7 researcher Ludovic Gustafsson Coppel has been accepted for an oral presentation at the quadrennial Session of the international Commission on illumination (CIE). The paper, Perception of whiteness difference under different illuminations, focuses on one important colour in printing, namely white.
Ludovic Gustafsson Coppel is currently member of the technical committee TC 1-77 on whiteness. He his also the Swedish representative at CIE Division 1 (Vision and Colour). For this conference, he was awarded a travel grant from the Swedish Graphic Companies’ Federation.
Two new Early Stage Researchers Jana Blahová and Irina Mihaela Ciortan are recruited at VoxVil AB, Sweden and Gjøvik University College, Norway for a 6 months period starting in March 2015. Jana will be working at VoxVil AB, Sweden mainly on the topic of ‘Applying spectral colour transfer functions on a 12-channel printing system’ with a focus on improving the performance of existing methods. Irina will be working at Gjøvik University College, Norway on the topic of ‘Spectral reproduction of Paintings‘.
The CP7.0 Project consortium welcomes Jana and Irina.
We are happy to announce that CP7 researcher Paula Zitinski Elias at Linköpings Universitet, Campus Norrköping, Sweden successfully defended her licentiate thesis on December 16, 2014 at Linköpings Universitet, Department of Science and Technology. Her licentiate thesis is entitled “Halftoning for multi-channel printing – algorithm development, implementation and verification “. For more details please click here.
